A Little Something Savory

Just so you know that this resource is not completely about sweets and treats here is another of my special diets loved ones favorite snacks....the elusive Sausage Cheese Ball.

You will need:

  • 2 cups of Gluten Free Baking Mix (I prefer Bobs Red Mill)

  • 1 cup of Dairy Free Cheese substitute (think Daiya shredded cheese)

  • 1lb of Ground sausage

  • Splash of Water

  • Seasoning of choice (I prefer Tony Chachere's original Creole seasoning)

Lets begin:

  • Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees

  • Prepare a cookie sheet with Parchment

  • Pre-cook the ground sausage and drain off any excess grease.

  • Mix the baking mix, cheese, and ground sausage until you get a crumbly texture

  • Add in seasoning of choice

  • Add in enough water so that the mixture has a glue like texture

  • Spoon the mixture into quarter sized balls on the parchment

  • Bake until the balls are dry

  • If you want them to brown, brush the balls with your choice of butter substitute

  • Cool thoroughly
